What is the Healthcare Workforce?

The healthcare workforce includes nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, technologists, finance and coders, leaders, and support personnel.

In other words, everyone who impacts your health and that of your friends and family.  Also, essential members of this workforce – the educators who prepare students to assume these critical roles.  Health workforce education and training takes place in high schools, vocational-technical schools, community and state colleges, universities, and places of employment through on-the-job training, apprenticeships, internships, and residencies.

The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), Bureau of Labor Statistics provides a list of 46 healthcare occupations with a brief job summary, entry-level education requirement, and median pay at https://www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/home.htm.
